Jeff Kinley| Junior

Saginaw Heritage HS
Means Stamping


2009 has been a tremendous year for Jeff.  Jeff was named the Saginaw Valley Leagues Most Valuable Player, his 1.08 ERA along with his .487 battting average helped contribute to his dual threat success.


Jeff had a tremendous summer with Saginaw Means batting over .400 while also topping out at 87 mph on the bump with his signature running two-seam fastball.  Jeff's last three outings with Means were outstanding, here are the scores and stats:


Saginaw Means 6, Central Michigan Stars 0 - Allowed 1 hit with 10 strikeouts

Saginaw Means 8, Flint Palacio's 0 - Allowed 2 hits with 5 strikeouts

Saginaw Means 4, Chicago Lumbard Lightning 0 - Allowed 2 hits with 8 strikeouts

Week 9

Mike Schaaf | Senior Saginaw Arthur Hill


The Texas Rangers picked Arthur Hill pitcher Mike Schaaf in the 18th round Wednesday during the second day of the Major League Baseball draft.
Schaaf’s season highlights include 157 strikeouts with a 0.98 ERA while registering speeds of 93 mph on the radar gun, at the plate he hit over .600 with 53 RBI’s. As junior the hard hitting first baseman hit 13 homeruns.
Mike was the starting pitching for the West Team in The Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Commerica Park.  Mike threw three shutout innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 2 batters, at the plate Mike was 1 for 2 with a single.


Week 8
Justin Drzewicki | Senior Bay City Central


Earned first team All-Saginaw Valley League infielder.  The Senior middle infielder hit .411 for the Wolves.

As a junior Justin earned second team All -Saginaw Valley League as a pitcher.

Congratulations on your accomplishments Justin.


Week 7
Ryan Stainforth | Sophomore Frankenmuth High School


Ryan has earned his spurs as the starting catcher and #3 hitter for Frankenmuth.  In conference play his .406 average and .578 on base percentage have helped contribute to various conference victories.  The stellar backstop has very proven to be quite effective stopping 20 out of 37 potential basestealers on the season.

Great job young man !!!


Week 6
Tyler Provow | Sophomore Bay City Western


Tyler has proven to be the Saginaw Valley Leagues top defensive shortstop while helping lead Bay City Western to their first Saginaw Valley League title since 2001.  Way to go Tyler !!!

Week 5
Jeff Hartt | Coach Bangor John Glenn


Now at 496-289 for his career, Hartt surpassed former Essexville Garber coach Roger Pfundt for the most wins in Bay County history.

The John Glenn ball diamond - recently christened Jeff Hartt Field - has long been a good place to be for Hartt and his troops. Under the Glenn player-turned-coach, the Bobcats have hit the 20-win mark 15 of the past 20 years and have routinely played a factor in the North East Michigan Conference title chase.

And through 25 seasons, Hartt has produced a consistent winner - to the tune of a Bay County-record 496 victories. Pfundt, the fellow Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Famer who skippered Garber from 1973-98, posted a 494-242 mark and held the Bay County record since 1991.


Week 4
Skyler Skrzypczak | Junior Western High School



Skyler tossed a seven-hitter, struck out 6 and had 0 walks as Bay City Western blanked Midland High 5-0 in the first game of a SVL double-header.  Skyler, now 7-0, retired the Chemics without an outfield putout.

For the season he has 46 K's, 6 walks, and a 1.16 ERA.  Way to go Skyler!

Week 3
Jake Fleming  | Freshman Bullock Creek High School



Young Jake earned his spurs for the Lancers as he threw a complete game in 6-2 victory vs. St. Charles.  This was St. Charles first loss of the season.  Way to go Jake!

7 innings pitched, 7 K's, 2 BB, 1 ER

Week 2
Jordan Schumann  | Junior John Glenn High School



Threw complete game 1 hitter with 16 strikeouts in 4-0 victory vs Holly in Championship game at the Bullock Creek Lancer Invitational.

At the plate Jordan was 5 for 6 on the day with a triple and 3 RBI's.  John Glenn also defeated State rated Bullock Creek 7-1 in the semifinal game.

Week 1
Steve Moore | Senior Pinconning High School



Defeated Carleton-Airport 12-1 in five innings on a 3-hitter.

Also added home run in victory as Pinconning went on to a 3-0 record to win Carleton-Airport Invitational.
