2008 High School Players of the Week

Week 9
Justin Drzewicki | Junior Bay City Central

Stats:

In Central's 6-1 victory over Saginaw Arthur Hill Justin allowed 4 hits and compiled 9 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Justin was also selected  2nd team Saginaw Valley League as a pitcher.  Congratulations Justin !!


Week 8
Skyler Skrzypczak | Sophomore Bay City Western Varsity

Stats:

Last week Skyler Skrzypczak racked up 2 wins for the Warriors. 

He was the winning pitcher over Pinconning in the 2nd game of a double-header, giving up just 6 hits and striking out 1 with 0 walks in a 7-2 victory.

He picked up another win over the weekend in the Blue Water Classic Tournament, beating host team Marysville 5-2, giving up just 5 hits, striking out 4 and walking 1.


Week 7
Mike Ferguson | Senior John Glenn High School

Stats:

Last week Mike Ferguson was 5 for 12 (.417)

He was also the winning pitcher in the Bearcat Classic, beating St. Louis, giving up just 7 hits and striking out 4.

Mike was named to the tournament team and was selected as tournament MVP. 

 


Week 6
Taylor Jakubczak | Senior | P Bay City All Saints

Stats:

 Taylor helped the Cougars this past weekend in winning the Ogemaw Heights Invitational.  At the plate Taylor was 4 for 8,  2 doubles, 5 RBI's, and 2 runs scored.

Taylor also earned the win in a victory vs. Rogers City.  On Monday he was 2 for 4 with a double in All Saints 3-2 victory vs. Pinconning.

 


Week 5
Steven Moore | Junior | P Pinconning

Stats:

2-0 on the mound for the week.

In 8-0 victory vs. Breckenridge threw 2 hitter with 6 strikeouts.

At Sanford-Meridian Invitational was 5-6 hitting with 1 homerun, 1 double, and 4 RBI's

 

Week 4
Chad Jasman | Senior | P Bay City Western

Stats:

Pitched one hitter with 8 strikeouts to defeat Mt. Pleasant, ending their 27-game win streak that started in 2007.  Also had key 2 RBI single in victory.

 

 

Brett Saha | Sophomore | Pinconning

Stats:

For the week Brett was 8 for 10, with 4 RBI's, 4 BB's, and 6 Runs.  Had only RBI in 4-1 loss vs. Ogemaw Heights ace pitcher Rick Dodridge.

 

 

Week 3

Jordan Schumann | Sophomore | P B.C. John Glenn

Stats:

Pitched 7 innings against Caro in a 9-1 victory.  Had 8 K's, 1 BB and allowed 4 hits while only throwing 90 pitches.

 

 

Week 2

Rick Dodridge | Senior | P Ogemaw Heights
Stats:

Pitched 6 innings vs. Arthur Hill.  15 K's in a 8-2 victory.

Also hit HR.

Signed with Central Michigan University.

 

Tyler Provow | Freshman | P Bay City Western (JV)
Stats:

Pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up 0 Hits, 0 Runs, with 7 K's.

Went 7-9 with 2 Doubles, 2 Triples, and 5 BB in double headers vs. Essexville Garber and Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central.

Stats:

Pitched 5 innings, allowing 0 runs, 0 hits, and had 11 strikeouts in 8-2 victory vs. Bay City All Saints.
